March 13th meeting. Please be our guest!

Hello to all who love the art of doll making!  Please join us at our next club meeting on Sunday March 13th at Maki House, Lemming Avenue, Ottawa.  This month we have our Dolly Day Program from 9:00 A.M-12:00 noon where we take this time to work on some of our unfinished projects and at 1:00 P.M. our regular meeting begins.  It's always lots of fun so bring your lunch and join us for the full day or come for the afternoon where we are creating amazing little cats and bears from fabric and paper clay!

    DOLLY DAYS, WHAT ARE THEY?

We have been very fortunate to have had 5 half day sessions booked this year in addition to our 10 regularly scheduled monthly meetings. We have used these to offer some additional play, learning and experimentation time to our members and guests.
And what a lot of fun these have been! We have had a great number of small projects introduced and techniques demonstrated through the generosity of several of our members.
In November for example we prepared mini kits and assembled supplies to enable the participants to create Christmas ornaments and pin dolls. We had a great turnout that included a number of younger prospective doll artists and many of the participants donated one or two of their creations to give to the seniors outreach program that took place shortly after.

Our next Dolly Day will be held on March 13, in the morning prior to our All Dolled Up meeting. The focus during this session will be UFO’s, i.e. unfinished objects! We all have ‘several’ of these I am certain, and this will give you a chance to work on a project in the camaraderie of fellow members. Perhaps even getting advice from someone that has created a similar project before.
As the program session of our March meeting is “Part 2” of a paper-clay bear or cat those members that were not able to attend “Part 1” in February could be well on their way to getting up to speed. There may be some members that could use a little help with their project in order to move on to the next phase and we will be there to help out with that as well!
If you want to begin this project please contact either Marla Niederer (marlaniederer@yahoo.com) or Julie Brais (julie_brais@sympatico.ca)

The session will run from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm with time to eat and clean up before the 1:00 pm meeting.
As in the past I will be bringing some soup to share for lunch. Please remember to bring a mug and a spoon. Drop me a line if you plan to come so I can prepare enough for everyone!
